FAQs

Why should I keep some of these tarp accessories on-hand?
If you use your tarp regularly, you should keep repair material quickly accessible because a tear in your tarp, or a grommet that is broken, can cause worse damage if you let it go too long, or even use your tarp just once!

You may have invested not only hundreds of dollars, but hours of time, getting the right product for your tarping needs, only to have it ruined by not quickly repairing it.

The tarp accessories we have, to keep your tarp in great shape, are not expensive and are worth keeping handy.

Why do you offer so many different lengths of rubber straps? What should I buy?
We do offer a comprehensive range of 4”, 9”, 15”, 21”, and 31” rubber straps so that you can get a more exact length for your tarping needs. Additionally, you’ll want to have a few different lengths to provide the best fit without having to spend precious time looping longer ones through multiple holes and wondering if you’re tarping properly.

In fact, while these rubber straps have some flexibility and you can elongate them, it’s very difficult to stretch a 4” strap to a 9” length, for example. So you’ll need to have a couple of different lengths.

You’ll need to think about how you’re going to secure your tarp and how tight the tarp covering needs to be, so it’s hard to give you an exact recommendation. However, you’ll probably want a mixture of shorter and longer ones if your loads, or the application, varies.

I just don’t need that many rubber straps. Why do I need to buy 50?
Most of the tarps we sell are for larger loads, and 50 is the right number. Plus, you’re also going to need a few spares, and you never know when you’ll need to connect a couple of them together for securing your load even tighter for maximum protection and security

How good are the rubber straps?
The straps are made of high tensile material with proven durability, and are load tested and individually inspected at the factory for additional safety.

In fact, one of the great things is the S-hooks are galvanized and crimped to reduce installation costs, which will minimize damage to your tarp, and you’ll keep them in service.

What about patching and repairing a tarp?
Depending upon the size of the rip or damage to it, you’ll want to use either patch material, which covers a larger area, or matching tape.

Tape is best for smaller damage as you simply peel and stick on, so you can minimize your time spent repairing.

Patch material will require you to apply vinyl cement and a drying/curing time to ensure the patch adheres properly to your tarp.

One of the best things you can do is to have a hand grommet kit on-hand in the event that a grommet on your tarp becomes unusable. You can then create a new grommet somewhere close to the damaged one.
