FAQs

What applications are the steel tarps best suited for?
Our steel tarps are sized for carrying shorter loads which results from hauling heavier material, such as steel, and we’ve sized them with smaller flap sizes. We also have one set meant specifically for B-trains. You can use these for other applications, too.

Our Coil Bags are ideal for tarping standard steel coils, cable spool or other round shaped cargo that is transported on a truck or a flatbed. They are made from the exact same, heavy duty black vinyl coated PVC tarp material that the steel tarps are made of.

Where can I see a video or images of what they really look like?
Each product has some images you can view, but you can get a good idea of what these tarps are like and their amazing high quality, by watching this very short video:

What sizes do you carry?
We carry steel tarps that run all the way from single tarps of 16 ft. x 16 ft. for a single tarp, up to tarp sets that can be as large as 16 ft. x 56 ft. when put together.

If we don’t have the exact size you need, contact us to get more information and a quote for a custom steel tarp by clicking here.

What materials are they made of?
All steel tarps are Heavy Duty and are made from durable, heavy-duty black vinyl coated PVC material that is 20 Mil thick, weighs 18 oz. per square yard, and has a cold crack rating of -40C, making them waterproof, as well as rot, UV and oil resistant.

We use #4 Brass grommets and 2” Stainless Steel D-rings.

Also, each box-stitched D-ring has a vinyl wear patch under it to prevent scuffing and tears from rubber strap connection points.

What is the purpose of the wear flap underneath the D-rings?
The wear flap is so that there is enhanced protection for your steel tarp at the place most likely to wear out. With the wear flap, the rope will not rub as much against the tarp at a high stress point. This gives your tarp a longer lifespan, saving you expense, and the hassle of having to get a new one. Time is money!

You have a nice set of lumber tarps. What’s the difference between your steel tarps and your lumber tarps?
Since steel is much heavier than lumber, you can’t haul loads as high as you can with lumber. So the tarps meant for steel are smaller and have shorter drops ( 4 ft. to 6 ft. versus 8 ft. to 10 ft.).

Otherwise, the tarps are made from the same exact material: heavy-duty black vinyl coated PVC tarp material that is 20 Mil thick and weighs 18 oz. per square yard. Our 18 oz. vinyl material has a cold crack rating of -40C.
